SolarBee Information Session
MINUTES
Commissioners Present: Stephen Smith, Michael Harnett, Vivien Cook, Fred Rollinson.
Commissioners Not Present: Linda Haspel.
Staff Present: Jeff Thibodeau
Also Present: Citizens and Staff of the town of Eastham.
10:30 AM – Meeting is opened.
An~Introduction was provided by Michelle McCadden and a power point presentation was presented by another representative to the commission and she informed the commission to contact them with any questions.
Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) was discussed concerning how it is caused, and ways to manage it and reduce it and prevent it. A SolarBee solar-powered circulation overview~was then provided with information on the battery, circulation methods and how the product affects the thermocline. Information was also provided for long term aeration. Other lake data in the United States was presented showing the change in sechhi depth, Ph and chlorophyll and turbidity. Other information provided was the anchoring mechanism for the SolarBee. The public and commissioners were then able to ask questions of the presented. Some questions were asked regarding ice events in the ponds in the winter as well as the different locations throughout the country and how the data applies to Eastham. Questions also discussed determining the
number of solarbees for the ponds.
